Our programmes are built around what mastery actually requires
From secondary-level critical writing to pre-tertiary research skills, every Aucklandcore programme has a clearly defined endpoint and a structured path to reach it.
Programmes that serve distinct stages of academic development
Aucklandcore offers four major programme tracks, each serving a distinct stage of academic development. The Level 1 Foundation programme is designed for Year 11 students who are encountering formal analytical writing for the first time — it focuses on sentence-level precision, evidence handling, and basic argument structure. The Level 2 Academic Skills programme extends these competencies to multi-source research, counter-argument, and timed writing under assessment conditions. The Level 3 Pre-Tertiary programme is our most demanding offering: it mirrors the workload expectations of a first-year university course and is assessed externally by a panel of practising academics. Finally, the Accelerated STEM track offers a parallel pathway for learners whose primary focus is mathematics and the natural sciences, with a strong emphasis on proof, experimental design, and data interpretation.

Choose the track that matches your current level and your target destination.
Level 1 Foundation
For Year 11 learners. Covers sentence-level precision, paragraph structure, evidence handling, and close reading of non-fiction texts. Two terms, assessed through four written tasks and one oral presentation.
Level 2 Academic Skills
For Year 12 learners. Multi-source research essays, counter-argument construction, and timed writing workshops. Learners leave this programme able to write 1,500 words under examination conditions.
Level 3 Pre-Tertiary
For Year 13 learners and adult students preparing for university entry. Mirrors first-year university workload: three major essays per term, two seminars, and an externally assessed research portfolio.
Accelerated STEM Track
For learners across Years 11–13 with strong mathematical aptitude. Covers proof-writing, experimental methodology, statistical analysis, and problem sets modelled on university entrance examinations.
The Level 3 Pre-Tertiary programme was the closest thing to a real university paper I had before I actually enrolled. The external assessment panel gave me feedback that my school's internal marking never would have — and that was the point. Common questions about our programmes
Can a student enrol in more than one programme track simultaneously?
In most cases, no. Our programmes are designed to be absorbed fully — the workload within a single track is comparable to a substantial school subject. Students who wish to combine, for example, the Academic Skills programme with the STEM track must seek faculty approval and demonstrate a strong prior record. We do not recommend concurrent enrolment in Years 11 or 12.
Are programmes delivered in-person, online, or both?
All programmes are primarily in-person at our Wellington campus on Courtenay Place. A small number of workshops are offered in hybrid format to accommodate students commuting from the Hutt Valley or the Kapiti Coast. Fully online enrolment is not available at this time.
Do Aucklandcore programmes count toward NCEA credits?
Aucklandcore programmes are not registered NCEA providers. Our qualifications are internally recognised and respected by tertiary admissions offices we work with — however, they do not generate NCEA unit standards or achievement standards. Students who require NCEA credit should continue their standard school enrolment alongside our programme.
What happens if a student does not meet the programme's assessment requirements?
Students who do not pass the assessed components of a programme are offered a structured re-sit opportunity within the same term. If the re-sit is also unsuccessful, the student is placed in a supervised revision track before being reassessed. We do not issue completion certificates for partially completed programmes.
